Procrastination
by Blogdramedy
The girl sat in front of her computer; her right index finger over the enter key. Inside her mind a voice started to mutter. She ignored it and watched as her finger inched its way closer to the keyboard.
You don’t want to do that. You’re close. Can’t you feel it?
The girl paused. She could feel something. A force was pushing up against her finger. She pushed against it, harder, determined to have her way.
With only six days to go, she needed the relief.
She forced her finger down. NaNoWriMo be damned, she was going to play Solitaire.

A drabble is a very short story of exactly 100 words. Exactly…so no cheating. Feel free to join in and write your own drabbles on Fridays and tag them with “friday drabble” and on Twitter with the hashtag #fridaydrabble. Thanks to Stevil for the inspiration.
Since, I’m going to be posting 12 posts starting next week anyway…
Can I just drabble here?
Usually you post a drabble on your own blog. We do it every Friday and you are welcome to join in! Include a # on your Twitter tweet, too. #fridaydrabble
I’ll do it as page! Bitter’s Drabbles *evil smile*
as *a* page… Geez I hate making typos! Don’t worry the stories won’t have any.
I promise not to have my red pen out.
As page or a page…still evil.
Nooooo…… NOT the Solitaire!!!
Yes, and I’m losing.
I think I drabbled on myself while reading this, but it’s a different definition of this word. Now, I need to go clean myself up. This is why I should wear a bib.
Bibs are good. For the drabble and the lobster.
There’s something so powerful about distraction. When I sit at my computer it is always with big plans. Then, hey, let’s just go look at this one thing first. In fact, I’m doing that RIGHT NOW!
12 hours later and someone is in your face, daring to demand, “What do you mean you haven’t worked on your blog yet? Now it’s our time, sucka.”
Oops.
I’m doing really well on NaNo. I only have to do 10,000 words on each of these last five days to make it on time. Should be a piece of cake.
We are each other’s distraction. That is almost poetic. Hmmm. There’s a song in there somewhere…oh, I know. Let’s go google that for the next four hours.
I’ve been watching your word count soar to low heights. You are really skimming the gutters of NaNo and I, for one, am damn proud of you! Keep up the good work.
Just stay away from the minesweeper. There’s no coming back from there.
Thanks for the advice. At this point having my brain go boom would not be pretty.
I’ve got 5 days and 21K words left to write… <— procrastination at its best!
Keep up the good work!
My first ever Friday Drabble. Read it whenever you get a chance blogdramedy.

Hey, fantastic! Welcome to the Friday Drabblers Club. I’ll get my butt over there immediately.
Only three more days to go!
At least you have a goal and a word count to reach. I have to write until the story is done, no matter how long it takes. It’s kind of daunting. This could be NaNoWrYear for me!
NaNoWriMo kicked my butt and I seriously doubt I’ll do it again but I now have a story that has some potential. I am going to take a break, though, and let the story sit and gather some dust. We have to hit the lights on BlogFestivus starting on Thursday. Don’t forget!
Can you share what your story is about or is that a top-secret secret?
I’m already thinking about what I’m going to do to some poor partridge for BlogFestivus!
And, no, my story is not top-secret. I wrote a 1000 word flash fiction story a couple months ago and got inspired so I’m expanding it into what I hope will be novel-length. Here’s that story: http://fixitordeal.wordpress.com/2011/10/08/the-hordt/
You go Zombie Girl! I will gladly read that post.
I would have written and defended my PhD thesis in two-fewer months if Minesweeper hadn’t been on my computer.
I never got in to Minesweeper. I’m a chess and Solitaire kind of procrastinator. Oh, and Risk. I love Risk.
