The 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups is hosted by Julia’s Place (thanks, Julia) and loved up by Lime Bird Writers. You have 100 words plus the weekly prompt to get creative with your writing. Prompt: …and winter will bring…
—
Plans for the annual holiday party stalled when Autumn put down the phone and announced,
“She’s changed her mind about the punch. When I suggested something non-alcoholic, I think I heard her snort. She then said a word I won’t repeat in mixed company.”
Summer shook her head and rolled her eyes. “Typical. What else can you expect from such a cold bitch?”
Spring turned her back so they couldn’t see her tears. Of laughter. This is so like her.
“She’s your sister so back off. I’ll make the punch and Winter will bring what Winter always brings. The gifts and the guys.”

And here I was secretly hoping, based on the subject line, that this post was going to be about you and me. Was that wrong?
This story really packed a lot of punch. Nicely done.
You mean sisters like the sisters in “White Christmas?” Okay then…I get to be Danny Kaye.
So the Fates are three Sisters. Ditto the nine Muses. Now the Seasons are sisters, too? Can’t a brother get a break?
Wait for it…there’s still tomorrow’s drabble. Impatience is not a virtue.
Very nice. Seasonational!
Thanks. However, I think it may be my last one. I like the occasional challenge…like Ben & Jerry’s but I find knowing I absolutely have to post a short story and link it to another blog then go read all the other stories. Maybe I’ll just do one a month.
For some reason I feel bad if I miss a week. Knock me on the head or something, will ya? *grin*
Yes. I understand completely. I took part in a link up for several weeks. It ended up being way more work than fun.
Rest assured, I’m on board for the Festivus, though. That is way more fun than work!
Well exactly!
Ohh this is so creative! Love it! Thanks for the link
Thanks!
Cool direction on this one …. Winter seems to have gotten the hardest task. Gift … ugh.
But guys…yum.
What a great use of the prompt. Love it.
Thanks!
I love this one. Your prompt never saw that coming! I wish my Mom had been that clever with the names of my sisters and I .
Hey…glad you liked. I’m enjoying the short story format. Stay tuned for BlogFestivus 2012 coming this December!
I liked the humor in this one.
So did I.
Let’s be fair. Who wants non-alcoholic punch?
Nice one.
Exactly!
